Showers of Blessing

July 16, 2024

A METEOR SHOWER IS A BEAUTIFUL THING…. diamonds of light, cascading down through the skies! As lovely as all our blessings, too many to count, jillions of stars sparkling through the night. How can we ever count them; how can we ever know the immensity of them coming down from “the Father of Lights”? Unfathomable, that out of His great love, the Lord sent His beloved Son Jesus to rescue us from our sins, to assure us of an eternity spent with Him in Paradise. (See John 3:16) Meanwhile, on this frail planet, He reveals His love for us daily in a myriad of blessings. Run with me into the night, and let’s relish….delight in the explosions of stars, blessings raining down. And we’ll lift up our hands in gratitude to Our Father God who graces us with a thousand, thousand gifts each day! (From Meditation No. 48)

A Cup of Water: Devotions for a Thirsty Soul

October 4, 2023

One day a Samaritan woman went to Jacob’s well to draw water; little did she know that she would encounter a man who knew all about her, and would offer an artesian well that would quench her thirsty soul with Living Water. (John 4:1-26) That man was Jesus, and He still waits for us there at the well. We each bring our own set of experiences as we draw on His promises and provisions in daily devotions.

Come with me to the well and let us drink deeply from the Scriptures, from shared stories and prayer, and let us find refreshment in this journey of faith.

Morning Splendor

December 10, 2014

Almost overnight the world turned from a dusty, worn-out green into brilliant red, orange, and golden splendor. I drive under canopies of jewels… rubies, garnets, and topaz. The burning bushes are ablaze with vermillion, while falling leaves caress the ground like priceless Oriental carpets. Even the very air vibrates with the sheer beauty of it all!” Thus begins the first meditation in “Morning Splendor,” a collection of seventy-five intriguing ways to enhance one’s morning devotions. In a wide range of topics, Marcia reflects on Biblical connections to everyday situations in our lives such as de-stressing, de-cluttering, and finding joy and peace in the chaos of living.

In Jars of Clay: A Book of Meditations

May 19, 2013

What does the ancient dodo bird have to do with “jars of clay”? What does the “Got Milk” advertising campaign have to do with Christian growth? How is Jethro’s Old Testament advice to Moses still good for us as we handle stress in our lives? How do the trials and triumphs of past heroes inform our present-day lives with hope and inspiration? A cursory look at the table of contents of this book reveals the myriad of ways in which Marcia Schwartz connects stories, anecdotes, and events to the timeless truths of the Scriptures in this eclectic mix of meditations. Come, let us consider afresh the wondrous grace of God!
